BruxZir® Full-Strength

As the most prescribed brand of full-contour zirconia, BruxZir® Full-Strength Solid Zirconia represents a momentous shift in clinicians’ restorative preferences. While it began in 2009 as “More Brawn Than Beauty,” BruxZir zirconia has been continuously improved to exhibit better translucency and color similar to natural dentition. It is no longer simply a more esthetic alternative to posterior metal occlusal PFMs or cast gold restorations. Now, BruxZir Full-Strength restorations offer complete color penetration and superior shade matching technology allowing practitioners to deploy this versatile material in even the most esthetically demanding cases.

Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal

Porcelain-fused-to-metal restorations have been a mainstay of prosthetic dentistry for more than half a century. The flexibility in design from no exposed metal to metal occlusals allow the PFM to be utilized in many clinical situations including parafunction and limited space. PFMs work well as single units and bridges designed by your preferences for each case.

As you know even the heaviest bitting and chewing forces full gold crowns are unbreakable, considering the large variety of dental restorations gold crowns have the greatest potential for a long lasting term remember that gold alloy have about the same wear of the tooth enamel that means that a gold restoration will not create an excessive wear of the opposing teeth.

Full Metal Crown Restorations

Full Cast Restorations

Yellow Gold crown and SLM (Selective Laser Melting) crown (silver colored) for non-precious and semi-precious. A full cast restoration is composed of a gold alloy that when properly cared for, can last a lifetime. In fact, full cast restorations are not only a strong and long-lasting choice, but they are also highly biocompatible with the gums. Dental patients have been shown to accumulate far less plaque and harmful bacteria along the gum lines of full cast gold restorations than along the gum lines of natural teeth.

Porcelain Fused to Metal (PFM) Restorations

Porcelain Fused to Metal (PFM)

PFMs are composed of a metal alloy that fits directly on the tooth, and a porcelain layer to provide the tooth shape and color. We are now using SLM (Selective Laser Melting) alloys for semi-precious (66% CoCr, 25% Pd, 9% Mo) and non-precious (88.6% CoCr) PFMs. We still use the traditional wax and cast technique for High Noble alloys to create the SLM metal frame, and our CAD technicians design a full crown and produce an STL file. Our SLM machine prints an alloy accordingly and SLM copings are adjusted and fitted on the model. Finally, our ceramists layer Feldspathic porcelain on the SLM coping.

Ceramic and Metal Free Solutions

Williams Dental Laboratory has been fortunate enough to have been involved with these systems from their inception into the dental industry. For years companies have consulted with us for feedback and suggestions aimed to increase the effectiveness of these materials for strength and esthetics.
CAD/CAM technology has been successfully adapted to the dental industry with 3D imaging and Virtual Visualization.

To summarize, there are three new types of milled products that have been developed. Leucite reinforced porcelain such as Empress Esthetic (yes we still proudly fabricate Empress Veneers, prepless veneers and crowns), requires bonding and can be used full contour or cut back and layered with translucent porcelains. We prefer the cutback method. Secondly, the stronger but still translucent lithium disilicate porcelain, such as e.max CAD, and e.max press. And finally, the highly tested Zirconia oxide stabilized with yttria such as e.max ZirCad, LAVA, Bruxzir, and Zirlux, colored monolithic solid zirconium. Milled e.max is very interesting because of the greater strength when compared to a waxed and pressed restoration.

The material choice that falls between, or has the hardness of Zirconia and translucency of leucite (Empress Esthetic) is the IPS e.max CAD.

Tough but translucent, e.max CAD can be full contour or layered with porcelain and can be either bonded or cemented. Zirconia (layered with e.max) is the answer to a high strength substitute for metal.
With all of these new materials allowing us in the dentistry profession to provide amazing results, comes a confusion that is mind boggling with too many choices.

Let's partner with digital dentistry for reduced chair time, flawless fits, and cost-efficiency

Why Go Digital?

Staying current with technical and human skills is of paramount importance in the ever-growing dental industry. With digital scanners, doctors can produce full jaw impressions in no time at all and send paper-free data directly to us through our cloud-based dental software. This allows instant and environment-friendly communication and record-keeping so that any issues can be addressed immediately by any one of our CAD/CAM experts, and your case's time in our lab can be reduced by 3 days.

Working without traditional materials eliminates numerous steps and thus errors such as air bubbles and improper tray setting in uncomfortable patients. The unparalleled accuracy and convenience of digital impressions reduce the possibility of remakes to less than .5%, and cut chair time for impression-taking and seating appointments back by 75%.
